If your dragon is not moving around and laying still with a black beard he needs a Vet. The black beard is from stress. Which means your dragon has something wrong and seriously needs attention. From the sound of it, you could be dealing with a URI.
You will need to go to a Vet for proper diagnosis and medicine.
Please go A.S.A.P.

he might see his reflection in the glass of the tank. when they get angry, beardies' beards turn black and they puff up so the animal looks bigger. he will also flatten out his body. Since they are territorial, seeing his reflection would likely anger him. if the beard is black but not puffed, he might have a respiritory problem, or his tank temp(s) are too high. check the temperatures; basking should be 105-115 degrees, and regular cooler temp needs to be about in the 90's range. take him to the vet regardless of what people say on here, as we cannot see your beardie and make a proper diagnosis. I wish the best of luck to both of you!

I looked up bearded dragons on google, and it had a thing on wikipedia about them. It said their life span is 8-12 years, and some people had had their bearded dragons live for 15 years! So, mmaybe you can look that up on wikipedia to learn more. Until then, I hope your bearded dragon is safe and sound. It also depends on how long he has been living.

CIAO! :)

Umn take him to the vet. There is usually an emergency vet around that is open on weekends and evenings. If you call your normal vet's phone number they should have that number on their recording.

Okay, Do you use calcium on the crickets you are feeding him? How big is he/she. My beardie when he gets scared will "freeze" sort to speak. It will pass. Also how long ago did you get him/ her? I would suggest leave him alone for a couple days, and let him get use to the environment. CAlm down..... About the blackness... Could he have gotten burnt by anything, or into anything? Hope I helped!

Could be normal, could be stress, could be breeding behavior. Make sure his diet/heat/light/hydration are all correct. If you are worried, take him to an experienced reptile vet.

Try gently poking his back. If it doesn't move even after that, you should probably take it to see a vet.
