What I mean is, can you get arrested for using steroids. I think I know the answer but I wanted to be sure. Thanks!

Lol, sorry if there is a misunderstanding. I am only curious because of all the steroid talk in sports lately (baseball, Tour de France, etc.). I am definitely not thinking of using.

Most steroids are controlled substances, and therefore pocessing them without a valid reason is illegal. That said there are some that arent illegal. But if you are thinking about using them you need to really research the side effects....You dont want man boobs do you?

The use of steroids is legal, if it is done for a valid medical reason. For example asthma is commonly treated with a steroid. But, performance enhancing steroids are banned by the sporting leagues because of the unfair advantage they provide.
The problem is when the reason is less than medically valid. Just to improve performance is not a valid reason. When you consider the serious side effects and possible dangers associated with steroid use though you need a really strong reason to prescribe them. For example the steroid in some asthma medication can cause bone decay. Taken in small amounts though when compared to the risk on not being able to breathe the risk is slight and more than worth it.
Using human growth hormone just to get a faster or more powerful swing is not a valid medical reason, it violates the Hippocratic Oath. So it is a medical ethical violation. That means it can be a foundation for a case of malpractice and that is illegal. Also getting the steroids is not easy, and if it is done illegally then that too is a crime.
Using steroids is not illegal, so a sports enhancing performance program that uses steroids is legal. But, it is a sporting code violation so it is not allowed.
Obtaining steroids, a controlled substance, and their use by a doctor can be illegal or not. If done to just increase sports performance than it is an ethical violation and it CAN be illegal. If they are obtained without a doctor's prescription then they are illegal.

It's illegal, and idiotic. I hate when men and people in general use them. God given talent says a lot more about the person than using steroids to get yourself ahead in your career.

I used HGH under dr's care and I think HGH is sold over the counter. I think, and I am not sure that HGH is illegal w/ the sporting leagues. I have a muscular disorderand it may have helped-probably did pack some muscles on me.

i think it depends on what state it's in..
otherwise it could be illegal.
