Light skin....dark skin....what difference does it make? I am white & my husband is a black man....I wouldn't love him any more if his skin was lighter or darker than what it is. And one of my best friends is a very dark skinned black girl. Who cares? Who comes up with these stereotypes anyway???

This question is silly. It really doesn't matter because you are still a black person no matter if you are light skinned or dark skinned. African Americans come in many colors from the lightest to the darkest and each is as equally beautiful. Being light skinned doesn't make you any better or give you privileged then someone who isn't. Accept who you are and be proud.

The shade of someone's skin is only one factor of many that affect whether someone else finds them attractive. Some light-skinned African-Americans are lighter than some darker-hued white people -- there are times that because of someone's facial features, it is difficult to even tell what race a person is. But with that being said, I think preferences are as varied and individual as shades of skin. I'm sorry you feel that there are "alot of white people" who hate dark-skinned African-Americans. That's sad.

As a white person, I have to admit, I do not notice the difference in skin tones that African Americans notice. When asked to describe a person am am often asked are they dark or light skinned. I have yet to be able to answer. This may make me sound ignorant, but I also do not notice eye color, of any individual I meet for the first time. The truth to the matter is skin tone, does not effect my opinion of a person. Manners, respectful behavior, self confidence and other aspects play a large role in my decisions about a person.
Your question, made me wonder. I called three of my friend: two black and one Hispanic and read them your question. I then asked if they described themselves as dark skinned or light skinned, I must admit I was surprised by what each said. So, I guess even after years of knowing a person, having spent time in their homes, gone on vacation together, and even serving as a Lamaze coach to one did not force us to discuss skin tone. We just like each other and enjoy each others company.
To sum this up, as a white person, I do not agree all we whites hate black people. Neither dark nor light skinned, as I said before I like people who are honest, respectful of themselves and others have similar interest and are of similar age. If they happen to be white, or not makes little if any difference to me.

I'm a dark-skinned African American...but I can still answer that question...if you didn't know, light skinned black people really came to be because of foul disturbances somewhere within their lineage. Kunta Kinte's grandson, Chicken George was light skinned because his mother was raped by her white slave master...as generations continue, that DNA still rests in the person and so, babies aren't as dark as they would have been centuries before. However, even back in those days, light skinned or not, that meant no difference. That would just differentiate you between the house and field negroes.Either way, you were still disrespected and discriminated against. Still, today, a black person is a black person, whether they be light skinned or dark skinned. It's time for us to look past color and just see each other for who we are.

We are talking about looks - if you take all the mindless racism out of the equation, I would say that many light-skinned African Americans are beautiful, and to me, easier on the eye than those who are darker-skinned. That is only a personal opinion, and as thay say, beauty is only skin deep - it's what's inside that is important.

I have never heard anybody say they hate dark skinned people, wherever they are from. As in all racial types there are some really beautiful people both dark and light. I am white, or pink really !
Edit Mavis is a bad advertisement for blacks, notice all the whites are polite, but she has to be racist.

Light-skinned African Americans are beautiful, as are dark- skinned. Your question has made you ugly to a lot of people. Don't make yourself a scapegoat for racists.

Hate is a pretty strong word.........I would rephrase that.
Funny thing about humans.....they are usually attracted to genetic differences, such as red hair, and such. If a human does not like the smell of the other......it usually means they are genetically incompatible to breed normal, healthy children. (that's what the blood test for marrage used to be)
But personality can override everything.
If I would to just think with my eyes.....I would have to say I like the look of the lighter skinned brand.....sometimes a slight reddish hue is present. I do wonder if it has something to do with natural selectivity for survival. It would explain why the 1st white woman a black man dates usually has blonde hair.
Oh, and ashton......you're a fuckpig who can't even spell.

well they are regular people. I know they can be a pain in the whoopsy but they have a life to. Think about it. They may be rude but theyre mother was greatful enough to have the child. I am also white and I am proud but African Americans are normal people but a different color. We all should be treated the same!
