Do you believe that common sense is disappearing from the general population?

Question

I work as a firefighter and I am constantly amazed at some of the calls we go on, some people's lack of common sense is truly astounding.
If you think that it is, Why is it?
My theory is that the media so capitalizes on tragedy that everyone is so scared of everything they can't think for themselves.

I agree. It has been obvious to me that common sense is no longer common. I think the reason for this is media, i.e. too much time devoted to tv and video games as well as the down fall and decay of the education system. Also people are so absorbed in trying to make themselves happy at that moment, and not considering the future or the consequences of their choices.

Just a side note: I would like to thank you for your service and dedication for being a firefighter.....

Common sense never was common. As far back as time was recorded, there were people who just didnt have a clue.
Your theory is good and I also blame all of the television and movies we see. As a firefighter I know you have to have more than your share of common sense. I'm a nurse and I know I'd better have it. Maybe we just used up other people's share-lol.

properly, i assume i could say that's because of the fact of our political shape initially set in place via the form with a President and a pair of residences of Congress. the want is there to coalesce on 2 aspects of an argument to get a majority vote even a probability. yet the two-party shape isn't mandated interior the form in any respect. in fact, the Founding Fathers consistently assumed there could be countless political events and positively did no longer assume that the President could routinely be chosen via the electoral college yet particularly via the abode of Representatives. They assumed there could countless events who could of direction cut up the vote, leaving NONE with a majority of electoral votes (required to be President) consequently sending the election to the abode to be desperate via individuals of Congress!!! i understand a superb kind of folk think of dissimilar events could be a solid factor, i individually disagree. i could communicate approximately perpetually, however the biggest effect of that fact could be that once each and each election for President the honestly effect does not be desperate via the folk who voted yet via the sitting individuals of the abode of Representatives, particularly if there have been better than in simple terms 3 events.

People are dumb....point blank...they believe they can do some really stupid things because someone did it on t.v or in a movie....i met a guy who swore his car was a transformer....media can really compromise a person's sanity.
