I have a customer that often makes strange sexual remarks pertaining to an employee I have (he's only 18) the customer is about 32 or so. Every time I talk with this lady about work she has comments about this employee and just how sexy and hot he is and how if she wasn't married she'd do X & Y...you get my drift. Well all of us look good when we are 18 or 19. I just think it's kinda weird, I've had lots of customers over the 20 years I've been in business but none like this. In addition this customer is married and has a small child! Should I drop this customer? She's flirty with me as well but I'm pretty much mentally married thus it doesn't matter...the account pays great, she sometimes overpays, but to me money isn't everything and I have tons of business. Drop the account or not???

Drop her!! Sounds like she isn't happy in her marriage and could create problems for your business with her unusual interest in a younger man. Sometimes there are situations in which money should take a back seat when making decisions. This is one of those times. Drop her account and have no regrets.

She's being rude and obnoxious, and if you KNOW she's doing this, it's possible that he could sue YOU for creating a hostile work environment on the grounds of sexual harassment. You're the boss/owner, you KNOW she's saying things she shouldn't, and if you allow it to go on, that's the same as giving it your okay.

I understand that you didn't take it seriously, and that's fine, but it's your responsibility to protect your employees from child molesters (let's face it, if she were a 32 year old man making comments about an 18 year old girl it would be a different story).

The next time she says something you pull her aside and tell her that you appreciate her patronage, but that you cannot allow people to speak this way around/about/to your employees. If it happens again, tell her she's no longer welcome.

She is way over the line. It makes you uncomfortable and you might check if the 18 yr old has a problem with it too. If yes then I'd let the lady know she is over the line. I guess maybe a manager or someone not involved to tell her to knock it off (you might use other more diplomatic words).

No no no. Don't drop the account. Let her be as weird as she wants to be, smile, then take her money. In business, there will always be weirdos to deal with. We can't allow petty, personal flaws to interfere with our cash flow. Get my drift? We can't be too oversensitive about the personalities of others, or we won't be in business for long.

Why, all shes done so far is talk the talk, no harm done. Wait til she attempts something and then just tell her youre protecting your employee. You can warn her the next time she shoots her mouth off to you and that you dont appreciate her downgrading your employee and if it doesnt stop she will have to take her business else where.

The best way to encourage her continuing what she is doing is to engage her further. You could try just abruptly changing the subject whenever she brings up his name. If she's smart, she'll realize what you're doing. You could also try being honest, but in a diplomatic, non offensive way, and if it still continues, drop the account. You're right, principles are way more valuable than money.

Oh geeze get over yourself! These customers are JOKING. If you can't handle business in the real world you shouldn't be in business. Flirting doesn't mean a DAMN thing. I say go find a job where you don't deal with the public because you have no people skills.

I wouldn't drop her account. Shes just, well, kinda pathetic. Tell her she is making your employee uncomfortable and would she please lay off the sexual innuendo a bit. She'll get the picture.

But really shes just a sad and pathetic individual.

well.. whats the job?
ask the 18 year old if it bothers him.
if it does then he should tell her to lay off a bit or make up that hes taken or something.
if it becomes a major problem you could confront the manager an he/she could talk to the lady.
btw thats very innapropriate to do when talking about business and she needs to know that.
maybe theres trouble in her marrage?
try to find the source of her actions.
maybe she needs help.
