Yes, take what they give you! They will usually put you on PTU to stop your thyroid from producing hormonw during pregnancy. I have hyper-thyroidism, and I took ptu during my whole pregnancy... but after you have the baby you need to be seen by an endocrinologist to see if you need further treatmeant... or if it was a fluke during pregnancy.

What dr. told you that you had a thyroid problem? Did he order more tests or give you a prescription? Yes, people do take thyroid medicine during pregnancy. I'm one of them. Better talk to your OB and see what he wants you to do. It's not a life-threatening situation, but you do need to ask.

You need to take the thyroid medication if it is out of wack. It can harm the baby to go with a thyroid problem untreated during pregnancy.

That you have Thyroid? Everyone has a thyroid. You should ask your doctor if you should take the medicine. You might also want him or her to explain your condition more thoroughly, so that you understand it better. It's your body, you should understand what's going on with it. Good luck~
