If you spend a lot of time thinking about how or things happen or why people do things, won't that take away from your ability to appreciate everyday things that happen by chance? Like wouldn't that person be so stuck on how things LOGICALLY happened that they fail to realize the bigger, less complicated picture? Does this make any sense??

Yes, it makes perfect sense. Some folks just think too logically -- in fact, think too much, rather than just let things happen. They're missing out on a lot, but that probably won't change their attitude. Some of us love to listen to the radio, and others want to take it apart and see how it's made. It just boils down to the difference in personalities.

It depends on why and how often this internal search for logic happens. If the person constantly looks for meaning where there is possible none, then they are going to be unhappy a fair bit of the time. Partly this will be because they are wrong, and partly this will be because they are trying to solve a problem with the wrong tool and consequently failing.

It is pointless to badger this person about trying so hard to understand why people do the things they do or look for logic in everyday events. His reaction will be to try and find the logic in your actions, which may make you both uncomfortable.

Instead, if he is important to you, you might ask him about it and try your best to understand.

There is nothing wrong in trying to understand life and the things that happen in it. The only problem is when he does this instead of dealing with life, or makes decisions based on flawed conclusions.

Shir it makes sence there is a paridox to most anything but if the reason you are doing it is to learn how to help people then it will not only help you do that it may help you see that there is a fine balence to everything we do and going over the edge is as you have pointed out here working against the very thing one starts out to understand.
