If you are trying to get soemone to look at someone by saying: "That black guy" or "that asian guy over there," is that racist?

I mean, pointing out skin color just might be another way of describing someone, maybe?

Oh, I thought racism was:

"1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races. "

I dont believe it is. When you say something about "that black guy" you are just refering to him by the most obvious difference between yourself and someone you know nothing else about. Racism is acting superior to another group of people because of race. Identifying someone by something so obvious a skin color is not offensive or demeaning.

No, it's not.
The police does that a lot in order to identify the suspect or the missing. It's very important to know what race he/she is, and skin color when you're pointing out at a crowd with many different races.

I say yes. There are other ways of identifying someone other than race, such as 'the girl with the red hair' or 'the guy with the shoes', etc. Race shouldn't be the only characteristic used in identifying someone.

No - it's not racist at all. We are black - or white - or ghetto *** chinese (no one likes the chinese). but then again - I say kill whitey all the time. We all know whitey is trying to keep you down. Oh - ya - then there are those pollocks. I hate them.

OK - I'm not being serious. I think we should love everyone - but referring to someone as a black man is not racist.
