Most of us have a favorite band/artist or novelist or actor/actress or whatever. If they were jerks in real life, cocky and arrogant, would that turn you off to their music or books or whatever?

Usually a true artist will reflect their personality in their work and any negative personality aspects should be evident. However, if I find that someone whose work I admire has a character like the one described then it does lessen my opinion and respect for that person.

Nah. That may be why I like em. I just figure some of that is a front and some of it is self preservation- try to rationalize it, I guess. Some folks are just jerks then get famous, some folks just get famous and become jerks. I met one dude who I thought was cool and was soo excited. He was a total awipe. I still think he's cool, but- I always say, "that dudes a real jerk". He's not even super famous. I met Hank III twice and he was the coolest. It's all about what they put out, maybe they owe us for paying for it- but I imagine that there comes a point where they just get tired of giving and we should respect that.

It acually does. It makes it feel like the music isn't that deep anymore if it turned out the person was moron and I realized I was looking for meaning where there was none.

If I met Steven Tyler in real life and he was a jerk I'd still like Aerosmith.
