Hey there!
The two negatives in the problem cancel each other out in order to make a positive.
Instead of the problem look like
14-(-11)-3-(-5)+4
It would look more like
14+11-3+5+4.
The problem would simplify to
25-3+9
Which is
22+9
Which simplifies to
31
So the answer is 31.

In math, you MUST do away with parentheses as a first step.
We have:
14 - (-11) - 3 - (-5) + 4
Believe it or not, there is an INVISIBLE -1 in front of each parentheses.
We multiply -1 by what's inside first.
We get this:
14 + 11 - 3 + 5 + 4
We now simply do arithmetic.
25 - 3 + 9
22 + 9 = 31

Negatives cancel out when they are subtracted.

There is an implied 1 in front of each parenthesis
-(-11) = -1(-11) = + 11
-(-5) = -1(-5) = + 5
So
14-(-11)-3-(-5)+4 = 14 + 11 - 3 + 5 + 4 = 31

1 negitive (-) and one positive (+) = a negitive (-)
2 positives (+) = a positive (+)
so 14 - (-11) -3 - (-5) +4
2 neg.(-) = pos (+)
14+11-3+5+4
so break it up to solve
14+11 = 25
25-3 = 22
22+5 = 27
27+4 = 31
answer is 31
