There is a simple rule to follow

2 negitives = a positive
2 positives = a positive
1 negitive and 1 positive = a negitive

so you have 2 negitives meaning its positive or a plus/addition sign

so its really -7 + 1

so its easy to create a number line if you dont know how to do it in ur head

-7 -6 -5 -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

so u are at -7

the +1 means move on space to the right/or towards the positive side

Subtracting a negative 1 is the same as adding a positive 1.

-7 + 1 = -6
