It certainly appears that the earth is getting warmer as it does from time to time but I am not sure all this concentration on the amount of CO2 humans are producing is a good thing. CO2 is not a major greenhouse gas and in fact is well under 0.5% of the atmosphere of which human activity is only responsible for about 5% of the atmospheric CO2. Warm periods in the past have not been associated with rises in CO2 except that an increase in temperature caused more CO2 to be released from the sea so the increase is caused by the temperature rise not the other way round. It may be better to concentrate our efforts in preparing for the changes in weather patterns and high sea levels that will be the result of global warming. That is not to say that we should not be concentrating on finding alternative energy sources because one day in the not too distant future fossil fuels will run out.

sometimes I think that it wouldnt be long but at others I wonder if our notorious, but often useful, British reserve would result in order no matter what the conditions. However, there have been riots n the UK, largely political and anger fuelled rather than fulled by conditions. It is dreadful what has happened to people's homes etc, however, and Im not minimising whats happened, it happens much more regularly in other parts of the world, we are lucky in relative terms.

Not long. We`re on a self destruction course. The human race will be the cause of it`s own downfall eventually.
