i think goodell is better at the job because tagliabue wasn't strict enough.

Right now, I have to say Goodell is much better than Tagliabue. "Tags" as I'll refer to him put limitations on the league and had no guts to disciplining players unless they were hurting an NFL official, i.e., Orlando Brown incident. He did fine LB Bill Romanowski also for illegal substance in his water bottle and testing positive for drugs. "Tags" was not noted for his disciplining of players like Goodell is now. Goodell has been a GREAT commissioner so far and he's ONLY getting started. The image of the NFL players needed to be polished up for sure. When an NFL player says, he was glad that another player punched another one in the face. Let's just say that hurts the image of the game. The player that said that was and is suspended, possibly expelled from playing in the NFL. Adam"Pacman" Jones. I'll say that when Goodell steps down as NFL commish. He'll go down as one of the best NFL comissioners. Now you might not agree with all of his decisions he makes, but you need to respect him in what he says and does.
"Tags" also asked the state of Arizona to vote Martin Luther King Day as an official holiday or else they wouldn't be able to host the Super Bowl. Guess what ? He got his way and they voted the holiday as an official holiday. That is, why they now are able to host a Super Bowl. In my opinion, you don't need to vote in that holiday period. It's a useless holiday. I never got out of school for that holiday. Arizona should have been allowed to host the Super Bowl before then anyway. I'm not against blacks(African-Americans) at all. I have friends(blacks) that said the very same thing I just did. They believe in working for their money and not taking that holiday off at all. I feel "Tags" held the state of Arizona as a hostage in order to get His way there. I respected his decision, but I disagreed with him on the issue.
In my opinion, Goodell will make the better commissioner.

Let's not forget that what the NFL is today starts with one man: Pete Rozelle. Tags continued what started with Rozelle, and now that's continuing with Mr. "Top Key-ock" (yes, Goddell is married to that Fox Noise chick who made that infamous slip-up). I will say this: they're better than Selig or Bettman.

goodell is better but tags was pretty good himself without him the nfl would not be near as popular as it is.
