Invisible fence has pros and cons.
The cons to having an ivisible fence is that your dog isn't protected from other dogs. Any stray dog can enter your yard and attack your dog.
Also the dog can bolt right out really fast and actually not be able to get into the yard again.
Also as the fence ages, there could be problems where the fence isn't working in spots and the dog can just walk out.

It depends on the size of the yard. we have an acre 250' X 200' (which comes to ~1000 linear feet of fencing) and got estimates of $1,000 to $1,200.
We decided to put in in ourself and got a kit for $150 from home depot. The kit came with the transmitter and 500' of wire. We bought another 500' of wire for $20 also from home depot. It was a fair amount of work, but we ended up saving a lot of money so it was worth it. Our trick was to use a lawn edger to dig a trench and put the wire in - took about 2 hours to do.
Good luck.

That is a very difficult question to answer without seeing the property. There are many variables to be taken into account when determining the price, such as length of wire, difficulty of installation, what transmitter best fits your needs and how many pets you would like to be contained. Each system is customized to your property, your pets and your needs.
You should be able to get a free consultation from your local dealer.

The kits come with a set amount of wire. You would need to see what the difference is in what is supplied and what you need. I tried one a few years ago and it wasn't worth the money. After spending a lot of time "training" the dog not to go over the wires, when he got excited, he just flew right over it and never even slowed down. Would not come back over the wires though.
