Tell me about it.....
My name is Alice and I get lots of people that call me Alison. People may say its similar, but to me its totally different, plus I hate the name Alison (No offence to any Alison's out there)

Well, it is a bit annoying to me, mostly for two reasons. My name is Lace and people who don't know me will normally call me Lacy at first. I correct them of course... but I can't figure out why they can't just say what they read. Shoot, someone named Bob doesn't get called Bobby right off the bat, do they?
Also, there are a lot of people named "Lacey" and I'm the only one I have ever heard of named Lace. I like being unique!

Totally!!! Grrr...

My first name is Rachelle (pronounced Ray-shell) but some stupid people insist on calling me Raquel (Rack-ell). Similar, but very different and totally annoying! I have given up now and just use the name Rachel (much easier) or my friends call me Rae (Ray). Sorry for the spellings and pronounciations but you hit a nerve with this question!!!!

I really try to pay attention and will ask the person to repeat it if it's unfamiliar to me - out of respect.

My problem is with transgenders who haven't quite completed the leap yet and I get my pronouns mixed up. I just apologize. They're usually pretty cool about it though I still feel kinda bad.

Yes it really annoys me. It shows bad manners if you've already told someone how to say it and they mispronounce it. I tend to do the same back to people if they get my name wrong see how they like it :)

This usually only happens with my last name. I don't get annoyed. I have patience. I mess up sometimes too, and there is no way to know how to say something until you try, so be forgiving. Even if someone's name appears to be Joe, you can say "joe" and get corrected: "No, my name's whoaheayay" or something.

I use my middle name, Anne, and you'd be surprised how often people actually get that simple four-letter word wrong. Is it Ann, Annie, Anna? I gave up trying to straighten them out a long time ago; now I just tell them "It's a four-letter word that nobody ever remembers" and answer to whichever one they call me, as long as it's not obscene.

My name is easy so people don't get it wrong, but, when I was in grade school there were three other girls with the same name so we were known as our name + our last name initial...I now HATE (I MEAN LOATHE) being called that, even accidentally because it seems to deprive me of me!

Yes, I don't mind Michael or Mike - but Mick pisses me off. It makes me sound like an Irish Navvie. No offence to the Irish of course - but It tend to be used as an insult in Ireland in places.
