I think that special_ned and glaux_athena gave really good answers. Also, I don't really approve of the use of Love Potions, however I'll give you the basic formula:
8 oz. champagn for the base
3 oz. chocolate
4 oz. heavy cream
12 red rose petals
The light of the Moon
A song of love
Let the rose petals steep in the champagn (reserve 3 petals)while you melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Stir the melted chocolate rapidly into the champagn. Add the light of the Moon and the love song. Pour into a tall glass and top with the whipped cream and remaining rose petals. Serve imediately.

They exist but they are linguistic and audio/kinetic. The liquids found in Santeria shops are just water with a bit of color and sometimes scent added. The liquid is meaningless. The instructions are the potion. It is the language that casts the spell.
If I knew you I would probably teach you. The techniques are remarkably crude for the power they have.
So the key ingredients of love potions are the words attached to the use of the liquid. Forget the liquid and start stringing word together that create the image of what you seek. Be careful. You will get what you ask for. There are almost always unintended and undesirable consequences. Get your self talk VERY clear and clean.

Leftover chocolate from a lonely Valentine's day
A handful of red rose petals, crushed into a light powder
A teaspoon of sugar
A dash of love sweat (taken from the brow as you think about your love)
And some chili peppers to keep things interesting.
Mix all ingredients in a small glass bowl, and refridgerate for 12 hours, then, add a teaspoon to your love's beverage (must be taken with food) repeat as nessecary

Rose Petal Love Potion
A handful of strongly scented organic rose petals will delicately flavor a potion for an enchanted summer evening.
3 to 5 hours before you wish to serve the potion, put a good handful of fresh, scented rose petals into a mixing bowl. Sprinkle a tablespoon of sugar over the roses and pour over it a large bottle of sparkling wine or apple juice along with the juice of one lemon. Chill.
When ready to serve, strain off the liquid into a punch bowl and add additional fresh rose petals and any berries in season. Serve in tall glasses.
As you create the love potion, you might like to enchant it
with a magickal charm for a night of sensual pleasure. You
could say something like:
" Flowers of love, Powers of love ~
Bring me desire, Bring me pleasure ~
Bring me a night I'll always treasure. "

Actually, there are a few old potions out there that are a bit crazy, and I can't seem to recall where they are from, but here are two things I recall...one thing is to pee in a mans shoe and place it under your bed for a night (I think this is also somehow tied to pouring wine in a womans shoe is lucky). I also heard that a womans menstrual blood is very strongly potent in putting into a love potion, as a woman is at her magikal pique when she is in her "full moon's" cycle.
I do have to say however, that if you are conteplating magik, it is considered dark (or at least heavy gray) magik to do anything that would alter ones willpower without their consent.
Now I will get off my soap box and answer in fun:
Cinnomon, its sweet, an aphrodisiac and stimulates the heart and blood
Ginger for tang and allure
Dragonfly wings (found by chance)
Baby bird's egg happened upon by chance (To keep things brand new and fresh always, and to add a magik flare, birds eggs found by chance are very lucky)
A holey stone, or a stone with a naturaly occuring hole in it, these can be used in elxiers and are said to be able to grant miracles
Finger from a hand of glory
A four leafed clover
Eucalyptus oil (to stimulate the senses and make your love life hot and sweaty)
Dried rose petals
Passionfruit seeds ground in a mortal and pestle
Vanilla extract to add a sense of the known mingled with the exotic
Mist captured in a cobalt blue bottle over a lake at twilight to add a sense of the ethreal and mysterious
There ya go! Remember emotions, visualizations, and intent are key to the magik working!

Chocolate mousse pudding, chocolate whipped cream, some devils food cake, fresh blueberries and strawberries, some more whipped cream on top with dark chocolate shavings. You can create layers of this love potion by putting it in a big trifle bowl. Now, dim the lights, light red candles and play soft instrumental music (like Celtic harp music). With long spoons, eat this mystical potion with your loved one. MmmmMMM, I'm feeling romantic and hungry already!

Obviously it would have to really affect someone physiologically, so it would use common herbs. Anything other than herbs that affect someone's response would NOT work. (Come on, semen?)
You would probably have to use things like St. John's wort (which cures depression) and valerian root (which calms someone's nerves and makes them less judgmental). Possibly something for smell, tailored to the person's taste (if he likes lemon, jasmine, mint or something-- then it should be fitted to that taste).
Regular herbs are very powerful, and you can kill someone with a certain amount of the right stuff.

Red wine mixed with Rose Petals (love and friendship), Nutmeg (for trust, communication, and understanding), stawberries (said to bring comfort and grant love wishes), and an apple peel (knowledge and feminity) heated to a boiling then cooled and strained.
