I LOVE garlic by ITSELF. I eat SEVERAL ORGANIC RAW cloves a day. I think it keeps me HEALTHY. Sometimes I need a piece of bread to help with the sting, but I've gotten to CRAVE my raw garlic cloves.

(Don't ask me why I have that belief. I wonder if there is anything on that as a fact.)

(Heck, let's see. Well, lookee here, and without your question, I'd never have known this. Thank you:

"Garlic health benefits and medicinal properties have long been known
(1). Garlic has long been considered a herbal "wonder drug", with a reputation in folklore for preventing everything from the common cold and flu to the Plague! It has been used extensively in herbal medicine (phytotherapy, sometimes spelt phitotherapy).

"Raw garlic is used by some to treat the symptoms of acne and there is some evidence that it can assist in managing high cholesterol levels. It can even be effective as a natural mosquito repellent."

--My cholesterol levels, says my doc, are those of a child's. High HDL's, low LDL's! And I didn't even know it was the garlic-- Think Happy for the good ones, Lousy for the bad, makes it easy to remember....

"In general, a stronger tasting clove of garlic has more sulphur content and hence more medicinal value. Some people have suggested that organically grown garlic tends towards a higher sulphur level and hence greater benefit to health.
Studies
(2) have shown that garlic - especially aged garlic - can have a powerful antioxidant effect. Antioxidants help to protect the body against damaging "free radicals.")

Thanks, Moon! Now I know it isn't just some quirky superstition of mine. My body must very much need it, I crave it so much! And I haven't had a single problem with vampires, either! Can't leave that out....(lol)
.
Edit:
'Nice of Psychic Cat to appreciate my info. Thank you!

EVERYTHING. I'm a savoury, not a sweet person, so I do mean everything. I had a friend who soaked the cloves, & then literally sat for hours peeling the cloves. All you have to do is smack them on a cutting board with the flat of a chef's knife, & they slip right off. I like to snack on a variety of toasted nuts (with smoked paprika) & add cloves at the end, because they're bitter if they get too browned. I learned long ago that Elephant garlic has hardly any taste, but what I perhaps like best is to roast a head of garlic, spread warm sour dough with soft brie, & then squeeze the garlic "pulp" over the top. Sun dried tomatoes in oil go well on this, too. I've wondered if I walk around in a green cloud, because I eat it every day, but no one ever steps away from me. Thanks to Desidera for all the information; it truly IS good for you. My father was born in Jugoslavija, & often wore a string of it around his neck. I've never seen anyone else do this. I've heard that at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, they have garlic ice cream--never been to the festival, but people have said it's great. Just driving through Gilroy in Summer, the air smells like roasted garlic. Oh, second favourite is grilled chili's cut in strips--let them sit awhile in olive oil & sliced raw garlic.

I like Garlic with butter as garlic bread.
Whole, roasted heads, squeeze out the pulp and mixed into mashed potatoes
Whole, sliced cloves on pizza
In shrimp scampi

Actually, I like garlic in or on most foods!

You have a great week too!

Yuk! Nothing much. But my beloved Arab grandpa used to chew it raw as a remedy for whatever might ail him - and was never sick, and never smelled of garlic! And I have cooked roast pork lightly brushed with it, and had occasional other preparations in which the garlic subtly enhanced other flavors. However, I still see it mainly as a means of frightening away vampires and similar hobgoblins. I can smell it at least 50 yards away - much to the chagrin of the First Mate.
