Well, evolution through natural selection is no longer working to the extent it used to. Now most people have access to medical and other technologies that would have stopped them in their tracks of reproducing just a few decades ago.
I won't be surprised if we have reached the point of self destruction not necessarily by nuclear war but simply over crowding. Eventually humans will not only run out of places to live but food to eat and air to breathe!
So maybe the survivors of the future are those who can escape those problems and as how things are going right now it looks like the survival of the richest. Since most outrageously rich people today are not necessarily rich because of hard work but rather due to some sort of arbitrary method (like stock trading) man kind is most likely to be a whole bunch of crooks and con artists (with bionic cyborg like extensions of course)

I believe that the next stage in the evolution of man, is the growth of a few extra limbs. We'll be walking around with 4 noses on our faces, giving us a better sense of smell, 8 ears, giving us the ability to hear better & two of those ears will be enormous, which means we'll all be able to fly like Dumbo!!!! Males will have eyes on stalks, especially young guys who have nothing better to do than eye up anything that's female & has a pulse. Our legs will become tentacles, so we can slide all over things & leave slime everywhere & our arms will turn into feathers so we can tickle each other!!!! And our mouths will be replaced by our *** holes! Our original *** holes, will become mouths! In all honesty, I can't say what will happen! It's interesting, though, isn't it?!

Two very important things will have an effect on the future of mankind. What is done with genetic engineering and some, as of yet, unseen world wide catastrophe.
The power now exist to alter and manufacture humans genetic material. That is scary. But, that is the way human evolution is headed. Example, we now have the ability to remove the gene that causes Down Syndrome.
Great devastating catastrophes have altered this planet in the past. One caused the demise of a dominate fauna, the dinosaurs. Such an event would have to cause a significant loss of human life. Also, alter the Earths biosphere in such a way to force all surviving organism to adapted or die. Who knows. Maybe humans would survive, maybe not, maybe a new species of human would somehow survive.

There is no pre-planned "next stage" in the evolution of any organism. Evolution is simply the response of a species to selective (and lethal) environmental factors.
Evolution is simply members of the species with certain traits being killed off, while other members with different traits survive long enough to breed. The ones that survive pass on the traits to their offspring.
So, if you had a population of cats of various colors, and you started killing all cats that had any white fur, the next generation of cats would have less white fur. If you continued killing all cats with any white fur, after several generations, you would have eliminated white fur entirely.
Likewise, if you had all the cats run races, then you killed the slower ones, the next generation of cats would be a bit faster, on average. Repeat this for hundreds of generations, and you'd end up with cats with very good running abilities.

Any discussion of future evolution having to do with humans has to include not only the genetics of and natural selection on humans, but also our unique ability to manipulate technology. Because we have the ability to change the environment to suit us, instead of the other way around, it's all but impossible to try and predict any future evolution of our species.

Having harnessed our environment to suit ourselves there would no longer be any natural genetic adaptation that would give us an advantage over others of our species, hence no natural selection. Meme theory suggests to me that the next step of human evolution will have something to do with computers... Watch "Ghost in the Shell".

Mankind is one of the toughest animals inhabiting the earth......you just have to learn to be a survivor, that's all. Good examples are the Jews after the holocaust. We respond to stresses differently, each one of us and the toughest survive. If it comes to surviving in space, well that too may take place eventually. All the races may merge together to form one common brown skinned people. Telepathy may improve. Can't say that every one will become hunks or muscular.........the delicate but intellectual type may also peak........Who knows.........by cloning, multiple copies of the same person may start coming round again and again but with different personalities, after all they are different individuals. The trend these days is for women with educations and careers to have fewer children than those who don't. Continuing this for a few generations, the women of the future will be less interested in educations and careers than the women of today. This might imply a decrease in the average intelligence of humans.

Probably backwards evolution. I reckon we'll regain a tail. I actually really want one. It's either that or we might become hermaphroditic, which is definitely possible.
