Do Mollie fish that you keep in the fish tank eat the small fish they have? Me and my friend are arguing about it so a reliable source would be nice

Sometimes yes
Personally I hate these breeders because they really stress out the fish
I actually just found some offspring fry in my tank from a dalamatian mollie, there are about 10 of them and I think they are about a week old
I have a lot of real plants in my tank, that's the reason some of my fry always survive in there because they can hide from any other fish

Hope that helps
Good luck

I breed silver mollies and yes they do eat their offspring. You have to have a breeder box for when your mollie gives birth to protect the fry.

I have kept mollies and bred mollies and they do eat their babies. Most live bearing fish will eat their babies. Sometimes you get the odd one that doesn't do it. I did have a silver Molly that didn't do it on her first brood but the next brood was lunch to her.

Yes, my family has had mollies before. They're just like any other livebearer. They eat their offspring.

Yes, if you want the fry to live, they have to be separated into a breeder tank or a breeder net where the parents can't reach them.
