Anyone else ever notice that when the kids ask for root beer at a restaurant they wind up getting it in a can or a bottle instead of a glass like regular soda? So why is it that resturaunts have most other kinds of soda in their soda guns but usually not root beer?

Because root beer is not the seller it once was. There are some restaurants that still have it but they are few and far between.Wendy's now offers a root beer float using the frosty ice cream so they would have root beer.

I suppose it is because Root Beer does not get ordered as much but this is not bad. Since most will eiter have Pepsi products ( Mug Root Beer ) or Coca Cola ( Fanta Root Beer ). it's better to get the bottle anyway. I would much rather have a Frosty or IBC Root Beer anyway. Besides for younger kids it makes them feel like they get something special. I know one place that serves A&W in a bottle because the owner believes it is better. It is also seved in a frosted mug

Not true at all; I've eaten at hundreds and hundreds of different restaurants in 45 of the 50 states and can think of very few that don't have root beer . . . or if not root beer, birch beer, which is even better! . . . in their soda fountains.

I've worked in three restaurants and they've all had root beer.

I think they just go with what is popular for the fountains. What I hate is that they only have either coke or pepsi, but never both.
