Yes you can be arrested for assault if someone presses charges but it would depend on the actual charge and the circumstances. If arrested you would go in front of the judge for initial appearance and likely be released on bail pending the court hearing. Depending on when you were picked up or placed in jail - you may not spend much time in jail if given bail. But once you go to court and if found guilty of the charges it will again depend on the circumstances and the jurisdiction what your sentence would be and this could include jail time.

It depends on the assault charge,If it is simple or aggravated assault, most of the assault charges you only get a fine, and put on probation for 6 months to a year. no biggie don"t run then u add another felony and you will serve some time for ca-pus. when you go to court for preliminary plead not guilty.then u will receive a plea bargain on the charge from your public defender or your lawyer that the states attorney is offering. So just plead not guilty first see what they have to offer you.The time you could serve is high but the state cant and wont let such charges reach trial.and just pleading guilty is stupid your at the mercy of the judge.ask ur public defender to get it dropped to misdemeanor charge and take it(the offer that is)
