It is much easier to keep the games together in one spot than to spread all the events around an entire country.

It is Olympic Games. It is marketing part, that brings millions of
dollars to the city.....Generally most of the games are held with
in a short distance of that city. The city has spent monies and
would like to get back and make more money. So all Olympic
Games have the city name along with the year.

If countries were named instead of cities it would defeat the purpose of the games being international cooperation and peace. If the countries were considered it would cause competition before the actual games even started.

If the games were won by Russia the travelling time from the opening ceremony out to the events spread over 11 time zones and back again would be horrendous.

Well the original games were so called because they were held in Olympia in Greece. (There were other famous games in Ancient Greece held at Delphia and elsewhere and they were also called after the town in which they were held). So when the Games were restarted it became the norm to refer to the city in which they were held: eg Athens in 1896, Paris in 1924, London in 1948, etc.

'Cos it's London tax payers who will be footing the bill for the next 35 years, it's Londoners who have been evicted from their business premises to build the Olympic village, it's Londoners who will have to cope with a choked transport system in order to get to work, it's Londoners who will be cursed by parking restrictions long after the Games have departed.
Ergo, it's called the London Olympics!
