If you are okay with rhythm and can hear the beat of the music the best thing to do is do a simple side step:
> feet shoulder width apart
> lean with weight on right foot
> on on the beat bring the left to touch the right
> shift weight to left and bring the right to touch the left
> go back and forth to the beat like this
master that and then....
- Look in front - ahead - not at your feet
- Smile
- Body language needs to communicate that this is fun
- Drag your feet a little instead of lifting and touching - make it casual and calm
- Keep your shoulders relaxed and your arms will swing naturally.
You have a week to practice so in a private place just work on it. Lower body keeps the beat - upper should be cool and relaxed since that's where the personality shows through.
have fun!

Try this...
Preparation:
1) Squat down so you're perched on the floor, with only your feet touching the floor.
2) Extend both arms in front of you.
3) Bend arms at a 90 degree angle so that one is on top of the other.
The Dance:
Kick out your left leg, then bring it in. As you bring in your left leg, kick out your right. Continue doing this, alternating from left to right. Keep your back straight and you can do this forever (or until you get too tired or they make you stop --whichever comes first).
Special moves:
Once in a while during a transition in the song, or for emphasis, stand up quickly, splaying your arms and legs outward like a flying squirrel (but in a standing position), then resume the Kleshmer dance.

Music In night clubs are usually based on a 4beat rythm
1,2,3,4 listen to the drums. the1 and the 3 are usually the time to plant your feet. OR the 2 and 4. if it's really fast (we call that double time) you can still slow that down in your head and count 1,2,3,4, listen to the drums. listen to any song right now and snap your fingers to the 1 and 3 or the 2 and 4. Rockin roll blues country are based on the 4 beat rythm.

basically i always tell my friends who cant dance to practice having a repetitive sound in their head and move something everytime they hit the "tada".. its like this: ta ta ta ta ta ta tada; ta ta ta ta ta ta ta tada; ta ta ta ta ta ta tada and so on, but it needs to be regular and there you go you can dance...good luck
