I can understand if someone is a one issue voter on something like their stance on abortion, but I am puzzled why they believe the republican party better represents their interests.

Lower income folks want low taxes, just like richer folks do. The average donation to the Republican party is $50.00 while the average donation to the Democrat party is over $2,500.00.

The rich, limousine liberals want to keep minorities down so they can troll for their votes election after election.

You also fail to mention the communists in the DNC. Outright socialism is the literal mainstream democrat platform. From health care, to gun control, to mandated formats on radio, speech codes, abortion, euthanasia, EVERYTHING! The democrat platform is really the communist platform. If it looks and smells like communism, well...

The now declassified Venona Cables don't just suggest that Soviet spies had infiltrated the American left; they prove it! Alger Hiss, a now proven Soviet spy was at the Yalta conference advising Roosevelt on Eastern Europe. -No wonder Stalin got such a sweetheart deal. His man was Roosevelt's top advisor!

From then right through to Clinton's red Chinese support, to Kerry being honored in the north VC communist museum for his support during Vietnam we see that it is the Democrats who are willing to squander our national inheritance, our freedom itself to those who run the gulags.

I am middle income.
I am not a republican, but tend to vote republican.
It has little to do with income. It mostly has to do with national security/defense, and limiting the size of government.
When you look at the past few presidents, the republicans strengthened the defense (Nixon, Ford, Reagan, both Bush) while the dems (Carter and Clinton) weakened us.
The same has been true when both parts of congress were controlled by one party.

Income alone does not determine if the person votes democrat or republican. Location also plays a big role. Low income people in rural areas tend to vote republican while low income people in urban areas tend to vote democrat.

You mentioned the word income. Those are people with jobs. People who work. They desire freedom, not socialism. To keep their paychecks, not handouts. They are voting for the lessor of two evils.

I am rich so this question does not apply to me. When Clinton said he would only raise taxes on the rich, mine went up. The liberals told me that Bush's tax cuts only went to the rich and mine went down. So I must be rich. I just wish I had a little money left over after paying the bills and my taxes. Then I would feel a little bit rich.

Unlike most people here, I know what you mean. There's no advantage for a poor person to vote Republican, therefore why do they? The answer is simple: They're just either uneducated or misinformed.

Sounds like it is you that has the problem!!!!!

Do not be silly - voters from all spectrums vote for a party. It therefore follows that your thinking is flawed. Perhaps they are voting against people like you!!!

Very few people do a careful analysis of candidates' positions, or could even tell you what they are. They go on apppearance and gut feeling for who seems like a leader to them. Because of our cultural history and upbringing, for most Americans, of whatever class, that means a man, preferably tall, preferably white, older but not too old, who seems strong, trustworthy and dependable. Republicans have learned to hit that one note very well.

Most Republicans believe that with enough effort they can be successful and they want to keep the rewards of this effort.

Democrats seem to be more interested in discouraging this thru giant welfare programs that only pacify their constituents doing no real good and larger and larger regressive taxes.

The government can not tax you into prosperity.

I don't understand why people vote based on their personal interests. You should vote based on your opinion of whether your representation will do the best job upholding the Constitution.
