Blacks Nude Beach! You have to be in good shape to get down there, its actually in La Jolla(San Diego Co), just afew miles north of San Diego. Coronado is lovely, Paciic Beach is popular but crowded as are all the beaches. Our favorite is La Jolla, it is crowded with limited parking but worth the time it takes to get a space.

I would go abit further north from Mission Beach past Crystal Pier to Tourmaline. Walk past Crystal Pier and it's probably the least populated place where people go. It's far enough from the boardwalk where the tourist normally stay. Coronado Beach is amazing this time of the year and will be less crowded than Pacific Beach. You could go to La Jolla Shores as well. It's one of San Diego's nicer beaches. Mission Bay is a big NO. Absolutely nada waves and I don't think even the tourists go in the water!!!

Blacks Beach is the most secluded...and the most difficult to get down to. As mentioned above, it's clothing optional. The beaches in La Jolla are beautiful because of the cliffs.

The farther north you go toward La Jolla, the less crowded the beaches are. The only problem there is it is quite a bit rocky and seals can be a problem. It all depends on whether or not you are looking to sunbathe or to look at cool things like tide pools, seal colonies, etc. There's always Black's Beach - but it is clothing optional if you know what I mean. If you have kids, you might steer away from Pacific Beach. It gets a little rowdy at times but is fun if you are in your 20's. All the beaches are pretty nice no matter where you go.

Prettiest beach: La Jolla Shores
Most secluded: Black's Beach...San Diego's only nude beach.
My faves are Mission Beach and La Jolla Shores. La Jolla is nicer and cleaner and it seldom has rip currents (but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't be careful).
Mission Beach has a lot more to do and see but it attracts the wrong crowds sometimes...such as rowdy 20somethings and the homeless population (when my parents were leaving their rented condo several months ago, one homeless lady asked my dad if he had a bag of alumninum cans).

Silver Strand State Beach is totally secluded,so much so that the other people answering here have probably never heard of it. Being secluded also means no pollution or trash so it gets my vote as prettiest.

Prettiest: La Jolla or Coronado (tie)
Most secluded: Sunset Cliffs or Blacks - If you are thinking wedding, keep in mind, both are not easily accessible

I like coronado, it's not too far from the USS Midway, that's always fun, but it is a little crowded, lots of sea doos.
