....I would like to ask for ideas on how to get him there. It'll be held at a community rental facility and is an 80's theme. What can I tell him or what can I do to get him to the party?

On my Husbands 40th Surprise Party a few years ago.

We had the party at a bar and grill.

Anyway I had his best friend call him about a half an hour before the party and say that his son was in a fight and needed assistance. My hubby went to assist and went to several places to stall time, the son called while they was driving around (on a goose chase) and told him where to go and when my hubby walked in, he was bulled up like a toad ready to break up a fight. Tee hee....

Surprise.. My hubby was really surprised. It was Great.

A broken down car, or help to move something would work too.

Good luck with the party

Depends on his personality. I think I would have a couple of his friends pick him up for drinks and then drive to the party afterwards.
That will assure he arrives.
I am probably just paranoid because I just divorced a philanderer who would not have come home for 2 or more days on his birthday.
