what's the deal with the fantasy drama infatuations? hobbits and potter jedi's etcetera etcetera?

i'm running into alot of people that are into that fantasy movie stuff. and the sad part is they don't even have kids,, now don't get me wrong alot of the cartoons are awesome stories,, take shrek for example,, but these hobbits and wizards and what not, are well nerdy,, dorky even,,,, i've watched a couple of the lord of the rings movies, and 1 harry potter,, both were excrutiating to watch insulting to me the consumer,,, the only good that has come of it is the jokes that i now have in my arsenal pertaining to short people,, ya know high my little hobbit friend things like that,,, but they are very popular obviously,, so what am i missing,, watch the deal,,, why are people so obsessed with it they that they know what a muggle is,, or the geography of middle earth

Fantasy adventure stories have been around since people first began telling tales. If you don't get it, probably no one can explain it to you. Just accept that tastes differ and try not to be obnoxious about it.

I thinly LORD of the Rings is Fantasticbooks and movies. , the Harry Potter books are fantastic It is wonderful escapism I suppose it is the same reason some people watch westerns or spay movies ect. They can just get you out of your head. It it is nerdy then I am a nerd and proud of it

it's kinda cute tho...i mean i don't go for all that but if it's keeping people occupied and happy then go for it
