I am 13 and about 3 months old, and I'm the only one out of my friends who dosent have their period yet! I know I'm about the age girls get it, but some things are really weird. Like in this book, it had a check-off thing of all the things you have. I checked off all of them. Also, my doctor told me like 89% of girls get their period 4 years after development starts..well I started developing 6 years ago. Also, all the books say you'll prob get gross discharge stuff a couple months before it starts..well I've had that for 3 years. I've also never had stomach or back pain. I know everyone will say, 'don't worry about that' well it's just really weird and I want to know if this is normal!

also, I did ask my doctor a few months ago, and she always says, 'oh well you should get it within six months' [ the first time she said that was over a year ago ]

Oh and also, I'm 5'3,tall, and 90 pounds..so do you think it could have something to do with me being skinny?

My friend didn't get it until she was 16 =) Most of my friends started at 13/14 so don't worry at all! It's completely normal.

If it hasn't started at 16/17 then you might want to see a doctor.

Talk to your mum or a friend of the family or school nurse if it's really bothering you =)

I believe you will get it soon, just like everyone else. I personally believe that you will get it when you hit 100 pounds. For some reason I have found that it seems to be a magic number. That's what happened with me, I was at the end of my Freshman year in high school. My daughter was the same way when she hit 100 pounds in 8th grade. So it will happen. I also heard that the later you start the healthier you can be with female problems later in life like cancer. Your body will start when it suppose to.
Also next time you see your Dr ask her to do a test on you. See if you have ovaries. If you don't then maybe that is the reason, no ovaries no eggs so check on that too.

Relax it will come and trust me when it does it won't be fun.

Are you very thin? Sometimes being a bit too skinny can delay the start of your period.

Is your mom cool to talk to? Have you asked her how old she was when she started? Genetics can often play a role in how early/late you start.

You say you "started developing 6 years ago"-Do you mean your breasts started developing? Like to the point where you needed to wear a bra to school most of the time? Or do you mean your nipples got kinda puffy? Or do you mean you were starting to grow pubic hair/underarm hair a few years ago?

(I'm not trying to be too personal or too nosey, just trying to understand what you mean by "developing". 6yrs ago you would have been about 7-ish, right? Everyone is different, and if you say you experienced those types of bodily changes 6yrs ago, I believe you. It's just a little uncommon to start "developing" quite that early-that would be like end of 1st grade, beginning of 2nd grade. Like I said though, if you say that is what happened and the time frame is accurate, I absolutely believe you-just wanted to make sure "developing"meant the same thing to both of us.)

Anyway, I can understand if you don't really want to answer all this/elaborate. If you want, you can email me, but please just get permission from your Mom/Dad/Grandma-some grown up who is in charge so I can email them & make sure they don't think I'm a kidnapper or child molester or anything sick. (I know, when I was 13 that would have seemed really ridiculous to me; now though (I'm 27), I understand more why my parents worried so much!)

Good luck to you!

Not every girl is the same. I didn't get my period until I was 15 while my friend's got theirs at 11, 12 or 13. If you are really worried about, I would talk to your mom and ask to see a physician. Don't just rely on a book. Talk to your doctor!

I know how you feel. I was 15 before I got mine and all of my friends had theirs long before. I was a gymnast though and very active. For girls that are very active, sometimes it takes a while. It is ok too because you will have your period later in life. All of us are different and that's ok. Just enjoy life and don't worry. It will come when its ment to.

For you, it's normal. You'll start when it's the right time for your body. Really, don't rush it, once you start, you'll wish you hadn't!! I'm 46 and will soon be at the age I no longer have a period, and I can hardly wait. Happy Day!

I was 14 when I got mine. My sister was 15 when she got hers. What the doc gave you was probably an average--some girls get theirs sooner after developing and others later. If you don't have your period by 16 or 17, then you should start worrying. But for now, don't be too concerned.

Sweety, calm down. Every young girl develops at their own rate, and with that, they develop their period at their own rate. It is perfectly normal. So, just go with the flow of nature and you will get your period when your body feels it is ready.

Yup. You're normal. I didn't get mine until I was 14 almost 15. We're lucky to get it later though.
