are leftists better at defending a nation and ideology? the US was led into war by several leftist presidents in an attempt to defend a nation or ideology. ironically, they sometimes fought against other leftists.
woodrow wilson - WW1 (backed by roosevelt [r])
fdr - WW2
harry truman - korea conflict, also used nuclear weapons in WW2. meanwhile, stalin was busy killing 13 million of his people, which are to be included in the 60 million deaths that communism caused worldwide.
lyndon johnon - vietnam war
bill clinton - bosnia conflict to help defend the descendants of the long-gone ottoman empire that attacked europe twice throughout history (muslims)
reagan got the US out of the cold war without a shot fired. too peaceful, eh? it might have been over sooner with a war-mongering democrat in office.
george bush sr. - first iraq war, after iraq invaded kuwait.
vote democrat to win the war on terrror!

No. If you look at who runs our national defense, and who most of the people in our military are, you will notice most vote Republican. Around 89% of the people in the US military vote Republican and the left-minded are typically against any type of military action.

Liberals are better at defending the ideology of the country.
Conservatives are better at defending the US against military aggressors.
But most of your examples are spurious. Stalin was not a liberal -- he opposed everything liberals stand for.
And "descendants of the long-gone ottoman empire".... you want to go back {EDIT: hundreds} of years to find a way to blame the people that Clinton AND a Republican Congress voted to help? How about going back 200 years, and blaming us for helping the British, who were a much more recent enemy.

I'm not so sure, that extremists on either side of the political spectrum are best for our country in any way, shape or form.
But if you do your research, I am sure you will find that your side of the line in politics, doesn't make a difference in how concerned you will be about making sure your fellow countrymen are safe.
