Automatic Transmission Fluid is used in the power steering resevoir.
You can go to the parts department of your local dealership and buy Redline Power Steering Fluid, and it will be the same substance as BMW ATF.

BMW uses 3 types of fluid for the power steering across its models.
Bavarian Autosport recommends Redline D4 ATF - synthetic Dexron III and Mercon fluid.
Call them to double check if you're unsure 800-535-2002

there is a special bmw fluid that goes in that. I think the pyroil psf is compatible.
