The Bush administration hasbeen wrong about every prediction they've made about Iraq--from the mythical WMD and ties to al-Qaida to being "greeted with flowers" to "Mission Accomplished." Time and again this or that region was "secure," al-Qaida was being destroyed, a drawdown in troops would start in "just a few more months," etc., etc.
All WRONG. So why should anyone take Bush's fear-mongering predictions of catastrophe seriously?

Bruce L: yeah--yeah. "al-Qaida will gain--they love people who question Bush's "wisdom". I repeat--given the record--why should anyone take this nonsense seriously?

No one with any sense would believe anything Bush has to say about Iraq. Perhaps if he told us the real reasons for invading Iraq, his actions would make sense. He is stalling for time to turn this mess over to the incoming president in 2009 and to get the oil companies firmly entrenched in Iraq with long-term contracts before then.
Bush’s continuing litany of slogans, lies and mindless platitudes are no longer impressing the American people. Any prediction he makes is simply not credible.
I predict that we would save lives and money by leaving Iraq.

Because what Bush considers disaster, and what the rest of the world does, are two entirely different things.
If we pull out of Iraq, soon, they may never draw up the "divvy up the oil" legislation that Bush has been pressing them on more than anything else. If we pull out shortly after they do, they may decide to change their minds, when leadership changes.

Yes, it will be worse. Not that this makes it any better, all the bad things he sells as fear are already happening to a lesser degree. And are presence is insufficient to stop them.
Why if he believes in the war doesn't he start a draft and raise taxes? Or if he doesn't believe, he should suck up his pride and withdraw. Get in or get out. No more of this half *** slow lose.

To many folks, thinking anything else makes them too uncomfortable. It is unthinkable to a lot of people that our Commander in Chief would ever even think of putting us in harms' way.
Bush's agenda is to set up bases in the Middle East; Iraq is geographically central and its access to oil make it strategically sensible...That is if you want to establish World Dominance!
He doesn't care what Americans think, so he uses his predictions of catastrophe to keep everyone in line.

Didn't we know all that during the last presidential election?
Why did we vote for him again? Wasn't it because we thought the Democrats couldn't fight a war?
You've skipped ahead of me. I'm still puzzling about the last election.

With the Bush administration, I have come to learn that their "predictions" are veiled threats against America.
The Bush administration in and of itself represents the biggest threat America faces.

He is trying to rule by fear. American presence in Iraq is only making terrorism worse. There are more terrorists than there were before mr. bush started this war.
Of course he is wrong. When the huge majority of EXPERIENCED military leaders quit because they know his strategy is wrong, yet he continues on his merry way, it proves how little he cares for the American citizens.

Perhaps he needs to dust his crystal ball. I don't put much weight in anything he says anymore. His lips keep moving but not much comes out.

I doubt seriously that it could possibly make it a great success to just pick up and leave. it makes no sense to me. in fact it would be a victory for our enemies, Al Quaeda would love you for your opinion on the matter, may even try to recruit you.
