Grandslam refers to the four major titles in the game of tennis. These are namely the australian open(played in melbourne, australia),french open(played in paris, france),wimbledon(played in london,uk) and the us open(played in new york, usa)(in order). These titles are very prestigious and only the best players get the opportunity to play in the grandslams. The french open is played on clay court. The wimbledon is played on the grass and the other two grandslams are played on hard court. The present no.1 seed Roger federer has won all the grandslam titles except the french open also known as Roland Garros. The no.2 seed Rafael Nadal has won all the French open titles that he has played. The players have to adjust their style of play according to the court.Grass courts and hard courts demand aggressiveness and speed while clay courts demand patience. The grass and hard courts suit Federer's style of play and the clay courts suit Nadal's style. That is why Nadal has never allowed Federer to win the french open.In women's tennis Justine Henin is the best seed and plays well in all the four grand slams.Recently,Federer and Venus williams won the men's and the women's title respectively at the wimbledon. The next grandslam is the us open. Now -a-days ,boy's tennis ,girl's tennis, tennis for the disabled and tennis for the senior players have also been introduced at the grandslams. The prize money at the grandslams is very high.Wimbledon has the highest prize money and is the most prestigious of the four grandslams.

A Grand Slam is when you win 4 of the major tournaments in the same year.

A career Grand Slam is when you win the 4 majors in different years.
It's like winning 1 major one year then the other 3 in different years.

If you win a Grand Slam and an olympic gold in the same year it is called the Golden Slam.

Also, people call majors Grand Slam events.

The four majors (Grand Slam Events) are:

1- Australian Open [Melbourne, Australia]
2- French Open or (Roland Garros) [Paris, France]
3- Wimbledon **[Wimbledon, London, United Kingdom]
4- US Open * [New York, USA]

* The Site of the U.S. Open is called Flushing Meadows.

I hope this answers you question!

**The reason I put Wimbledon, London, United Kingdom is because Wimbledon is in the suburb of London.
