I don't know how I feel about this - I guess, if they were qualified I might, but, what would come of America then?

Well... They can't.
If they could, would I? Yes If I agreed with them.
I don't think being born here makes a person more appealing to me.

"The Constitution requires that a candidate for the presidency must be a "natural-born" citizen of the United States, at least 35 years of age, and a resident of the United States for at least 14 years."

Assuming you were just asking a hypothetical question, then my answer would be "it depends". It would depend on their situation (for example, did they come to the US when they were a young child?). If you're asking if I would support a current foriegner to run for President, then no. Not that natural born citizens are doing wonders for us, but to be a leader of a country, I think one really does need to be at least a long-time citizen.

I came to the US with my family (from Canada) when I was 8 years old, and although I didn't become naturalized until I was an adult, I've always thought of myself as American. As a kid I thought it was unfair that I wouldn't be allowed to run for President (not that I wanted to, mind you), just because I was born somewhere else. Other than my birthplace, I was the same as everyone else around me.

I guess I kind of feel the same today, but I don't care enough to protest the current law ;-)

I might, but she/he could not serve as President as the Constitution is currently written, and an amendment would take a long time to pass.

The Constitution says The President must be native born, among other qualifications. Naturalized citizens can serve in just about any other office (not Vice President, of course).

Personally, I don't think it would have much affect on America if a naturalized citizen became President, especially if she/he lived here since a very young age.

A person born outside of this country is not able to run for President. At least not until someone gets the US Constitution changed.

The Constitution of The U.S., stipulates that (since President Monroe's election), all Presidents must be at or above a certain age, and a natural born citizen. It has been over 50 years, but I do remember this from high school !

There are people who were not born in America that are out there fighting for our country right now and are proud to do it because they believe in what we stand for. And, there are people who were born in America that are slowly destroying our country with hate, drugs, rape, and murder. If someone is willing to step up to the plate and run this country with the intent to make it better, American born or not, I say we let them. I just want someone who has shown proof that they are able to do the job.

No, because the Constitution forbids it.

Exception: a person born to US parents in a US controlled region (military base, US ship, etc) might qualify as "natural born" depending on the circumstances.

Why does this question make him a bigot, Sevette? Some people are just so angry with themselves, and blinded by hate, they think everyone is out to get them.
