Your presumption that Iran is evil is wrong. Their government may be evil. However Iran is a secular country despite those who think it is run by Sharia Islamic law.

I don't think the country of Iran is evil. I do disagree with several of the current rulers' policies, but you might get some interesting viewpoints by watching Glen Beck. He got the idea to film some of the speeches by leaders in Iran, and have the speeches translated. Most of the folks in Iran only evaluate by what they have been told, and many of these leader are telling them ludicrous things - things that would be hilarious if they weren't shaping peoples' beliefs. So there would seem to be some evil people in Iran, but not the country or the people as a whole, just the ones who lie, and foment violence against others as a means to their own power - those, I think, would qualify as evil. Remember, many other cultures and governments do not have free and open communications as their policy, which we usually enjoy in the USA.

the land of iran is not evil the problem is their leader! and soon he will be taken out of leadership by the iranians, ask many here in the states , the only thing soon to be attacked in iran will be their nuke sites! that is a sure thing! we will deploy a mini nuke then probably send 1-2 to the afghan/ paki bordering mountains,, with that iran will be helpless nuclear and the al quaida will become a thing of the past, all nations will know of this quietly! the press wont find out until after it happens

Stephanie.....Currently, there is a stoning-to-death sentence on Zhila and Bakhtiyar Izadi from Iran. There is a Campaign going on to save them on this website: http://www.zhilaa.com/
Note: The stoning videos on this page were copied by permission from the website of Iran-e-Azad, an organization which fights for Freedom and Human Rights in Iran. Their website link is here.
We want everone to watch this video and know the truth about this "peaceful" religion of Islam which is a danger to humanity and human rights. If you have a website or a blog, you are most welcome to link to the video:
http://www.apostatesofislam.com/media/video/stoning_video_100kbps.wmv
Are people in this video extremists? No, they are true Muslims, following the exact orders of their leader Mohammed. This is real Islam in practice. If you are a Muslim and believe stoning is not a part of Islam: Congratulations! You have already partially apostated from Islam. Now you just need to complete your apostasy like we did, and stop believing that Mohammed was a prophet of God. Join our discussion forum to ask for help on how you can leave Islam.

sarcam is well appreciated. This makes me think of Borat. Because when hes at the fundie dinner get together their whole focus wasnt what can he teach us. Or does he know anything that could help me become a wiser person. The focus was on how they could convert him.
The other amazing contradiction in the fundie mindset is giving the death penalty as fast as possible in Texas but Islam is extreme with stoning. Given me a break..............

You mean, can a country that's been there for close to 4 thousand years be made to conform to the demands of a country that's existed for 230 years, because we have more guns?
If people look at history, Iran has been our ally numerous times in the past half-century. In fact, prior to 2004, Iran had a progressive western-friendly govt. It was the US invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan (the two counties on either side of Iran) that cause the Iranian people to become scared and demand a new hard-line president who would protect them from western imperialism.
So no, their 4 thousand year old culture cannot be westernized without a fight. And if we fight them, it's going to get messy. But it can be made safe if we stopped playing global hall monitor and stopped trying to demand that every other country in the world act the way we want them to.

if we can't westernize IRAQ, we can't westernize IRAN.
Westernized in what way? like making the IRANian people watch hollywood movies, buy versace clothes and build Wal-Mart? Be more specific.

It's not a question of making it westernized. Thailand is not westernized, and the Muslims are killing the Buddhists.
This isn't about us versus them.
It's about them versus EVERYONE.
