I think you're close enough that it won't hurt him. When you do switch over from formula to whole milk, don't switch completely on them. It can upset their stomach because they are not use to it. Start out giving him 1/4 milk and the rest formula. The next week 1/2, then 3/4 and he'll be ready for a bottle full of milk. It's just like animals. If you switch your dog or cat food, you want to do it a little at a time.

My daughter started regular whole milk at 10 1/2 months. We were out of state on vacation and I didn't have her formula. She wanted a bottle. Where I was staying at they had regular whole milk. So that's what I gave her. She liked it and was fine. Didn't get sick or an upset stomach or anything, out of the normal for her. From that day on that's the kind I started buying. Normally it is recommended that babies don't start drinking regular milk until a year old. But your baby is almost there. I doubt that two weeks will make any difference. Your welcome.

I think when my little cousin was about that age her parents gave her whole milk...
I'm sure that giving her the cow's milk now, two weeks early, will not have effects on her digestive tract. Its not like there is a magic switch that is triggered on her 1st b-day to allow her to take in cow's milk at that exact moment. If you do give it to her and she has a not so nice reaction, try giving it to her in small amounts and work her up to full servings along w/her current formula/milk.

I would say that's fine, she's nearly one! Switching from formula milk isn't always easy though, she may not like it. I mixed the formula milk and whole fat milk together (ie, make 3 oz of formula milk up, shake it, then add another 3oz or whatever of whole milk to make a full bottle) and gradually reduced the amount of formula milk and she took that much better. It took about a week and she now drinks cows milk happily.

my daughter at 3mths for some reason quit taking her bottle, so we had to give her baby cereal, and a sippy cup, we took the stopper out of the cup and gently tipped it into her mouth for her to get fluid...she would not drink juice, or milk, or formula, only water...and if I mixed her cereal with formula she would not eat it, but if I mixed it with water she would not eat it either, so I mixed it with milk, whole milk, (okayed by her doctor to try, as it was such a small amount) we also gave her vitamins. since she was fine nutritionally, I waited before trying to give her any milk other than in the cereal until 8mths, I never really asked the doctor, just began putting it in her cup between meals for some added vitamins and calcium, and she did just fine. so I would say its safe, but then, all kids are different. even today she won't really drink milk or juice, and she can't seem to stand soda. she drinks water all day long.

Yes, I did with three of my kids. Use WHOLE milk. Watch for any type of rash. Start slow, watch for loose stools, etc.
What a relief to put them on milk. Its so much easier. The one thing I would suggest to you is making sure the babies FOOD diet stays really good or you should get viatmins for her.
Good luck and you are a great Mom for being concerned. My kids were about 11 months as well.

Yes, it is fine. My son was a preemie (Almost 3 months early) and his doctor said that when he was 11 months whole milk was fine. He is going to be 3 in a couple of weeks, and has never had a problem with it.

it's ok....just give her a little at a time to start (like 1/2 cup)
whole milk at 1st.....then later down the line....around 2 1/2 to 3 years old you can switch to 2% milk if you want. That's the advice my pediatrician gave me. my son is 3 and drinks 2% milk.

It doesn't have much to do with the digestive system as it has to do with weight. If your child is gaining weight properly than she can start drinking whole milk. A normal 12 month old girl should weigh about 21 pds if she is 29 inches tall. If she's a little underweight then she can drink whole milk, if she's a little overweight then she can drink 2% milk. But always concult your doctor if you are not sure.
