I need to bring my car from Boston to Los Angeles.

Is there an auto train that goes between the two cities? (or maybe even from New York)

Amtrak has an auto train but it is very expensive. The cheapest way that I've ever moved a vehicle is to rent a moving van with a trail hitch to pull the car. You still wind up paying for the gas, but you don't put mileage on your vehicle.

The cheapest and the easiest way is to drive it there yourself. There are agencies that will drive it there for you, but you are paying the costs anyway. The drivers are usually bonded by the agency, but their payment (the drivers' that is) is getting from one place to another more or less free. You can also advertise for ride shares and have someone drive with you. There are trucking companies and some railroads that will ship your car for you as well.
