Adding to that, to "know" something is to have the universal of it in your mind.

I collect information through my senses and my brain processes it and produces recognizable patterns. I then conscientiously interpret these patterns, based on past experience and within the scope of my psycho neurological functions. Therefore I know.

I believe something to be true. I am aware of something that we call information.
"I know my name." That is to say, that I believe that my name is X. I can inform(ation) you about my name and then you will also know my name.
All knowledge fits this basic structure.
