I TOTALLY agree with you. To me the only decent player on that team is Kobe. The rest are good but still to young. They should have Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett , AI,Jason Kidd, Kobe , Shaq, LeBron , Carmelo , T-mac , Dwight Howard , and Amare.
The only uncertainty in the list of names i put is Shaq. He's getting old. if we had to replace him i would put in D- Wade.

The real problem is that most of the NBA players are not adept at international rules. Even second-rate NBA players can potentially win world tournaments because the NBA level of competition is simply much higher when it comes to speed and intensity. Conversely, just because we fill a team with NBA all-stars doesn't mean we'll get anywhere internationally, witness the debacle of an All-Star Team USA in the FIBA Championship held in Indiana a few years ago.
Also, most of other countries' international teams have been training together since their mid-teens. They have excellent chemistry and are aware of each other's deficiencies. Basketball is much more of a team sport, and international rules give definite advantage to perimeter, ball-movement based teams rather than the isolation sets that are used so prevalently in today's NBA.

Many of the top players dont want to play for their nation since there is no money involved. Just another reason why once March Madness is over I quit watching basketball till next year.

It's not USA Basketball's fault, the top NBA players just don't want to risk putting their season (or career) in jeopardy by playing in games where there's no money at stake. I applaud those who choose to play for the USA despite the obvious risks. If we could amass the top talent in this country once again, and everyone decided to play, I still believe we could beat the crap out of all comers.

I don't know man, this team we have going now looks like gold contenders. Yeah they're without those three, but you have to realize that playing basketball 24/7/365 isn't what some players want. They need breaks too.

yep. but we dont force our players to play. some countries do. of course if we really had our best players we would kill any country in basketball but i guess some players dont want to take a back seat to others. some dont want to play more ball after a tough season. and for the love of god take brad miller off team USA. how is it that baron davis doesnt even get invited to try out.

The problem isn't that. USA has the best offensive players of the world.I mean just look at the candidates' roster
kobe,lebron,wade,carmelo,...
And please just remember the greece-USA quarterfinals. All the greeks have done was pick'n roll .The reason why you haven't won that championship was that you weren't a team.

No one now can play together. There is no chemistry and everyone wants to be "The Man" on the team. If they got some people that could play together, then maybe we could do something.

Yeah America(ns) are capitialist,
if theres no money in it you know for sure alot of the super stars simply wont risk it, its 'not worth it'.
dont forget its not always the players, sometimes its the entire club that refuses to risk thier star player.
