customer service is hard to find these days.... It is hard (at least for me) to find anyone that takes pride is their work or even looks like they are happy at all there. The reason water has a charge is to cover the cost of the cup and the employees time fetching the water. And of course to discourage people from getting free stuff. They want you buy an iced tea, soda. I think in not providing a few freebies, it hurts their business in the long run.

I work at Mc Donald's and we have people that come into the drive thru and just order water, and we do not charge, unless they want bottled water. It is annoying because we have to stop what we are doing and serve them, even though they are not spending money on food. I think it is rude for people to just get water when they come in, and I told the store manager that we should at least charge for the cup or sell them bottled water.

Some for the paper cost of the cup, others just because they are greedy.

The only time I would charge for water, is if that is the only reason they came in.

It is supposedly because the cup costs money. The real reason is greed, though.

maybe they are serving you purified water, and it is allowed to charge for that. but if they are charging you for tap water, I am pretty sure that's illegal!!

They'll get in your pockets any way they can. To them, that IS the American way.
