nobody is going to just give you a free laptop... and if you do, you win it by a contest of some sort or someone that you know gives you their old one.

You don't need a free laptop! What you need is for someone to simply hand you $1200 in cash for no apparent reason and no strings attached. Then you can buy a laptop like everyone else does and not have to appear like a cheapskate, whiny, little, twit. You still want your dignity, don't you?

I got a free PC one time. I took my dog for a walk on the day before trash day and a neighbor was tossing an old PC out. I brought it home and I used it worked for several years. It wasn't a great computer, but it worked.

But seriously... "IF" someone gave you a free laptop, what kind of laptop would it be and what condition do you think it would be in?

You might as well request a new laptop with a DVD burner and all the extras and Premium Vista on it!

Well if you are really hard pressed for money your could always try volunteering at a community sharing program that deals with computers. Alot of them will give you a free computer if you volunteer a certain amount of time. Now the laptop really wont be anything to brag about and would probably be in the P3's or G3/G4's range. But it would still function for most of your daily functions...
Just something to look into...

Some companies supply their employees with a laptop to do or continue their work away from the office. Don't know where you live or even if you are qualified for these types of jobs but you could look into it in your area.

You can't be serious. If you get more than one, please send the other one to me. I could do with a free laptop too.

As far as I know, that is near impossible unless you win it or your employer issues you one.
