How do you mean? You can still swim on your period. Just use tampons and the lifeguards have bathroom breaks so they can change em.

Tampons are the way to go. Do a bit of research, and find the best for your situation. Tampax has a quiz to find out the right one for you. So just use 'em, and you'll be fine.

tampons, or softcup (aka INSTEAD cup)
i prefer the soft cup for thelighter days, cos they dont make tampons of a small enough absorbency to reduce risk of TSS during the light days. i would use INSTEAD cup all the time, but they are a bit expensive. so, on heavier days i use tampons, and lighter, the softcup.
you could also look into the DivaCup, you can reuse it and it has less risk of TSS than tampons. you only have to buy one.
