alright i've never been on birth control before. i just gave birth to my first child in may. the doctor told me to begin my birth control 4 weeks later. so 4 weeks later i was still slightly bleeding from giving birth so i began it the following sunday after the day that marked the 4 weeks. through the whole pack of pills i could tell when the lochia stopped and my period began but i had my period through the whole pack. i just took the last sugar pill yesterday and began a new pack this morning? is that somethign that happens when you first begin BC or should i ask to be switched to another kind? i have a dr. appointment on wednesday anyway i just wanted to know what others hadexperienced with BC. thanks!

why do men come in the womens health section and say it's too much info? what do you expect? and i thought i worded my question as simply as possible without it being really gross and detailed. go to men's health.

i would prefer a female barrier method after birth. or even a copper IUD.

i hate hormonal birth control, lol the last time i went on it i bleed for like two months straight and i hadnt just given birth.

just keep on taking them one a day, every day. it may still be lochia, or it could be a little spotting from the pill but it is not your period unless you are on the placebo week. give it 3 months before you switch brands and dont take any late or skip any - that will make you bleed also.

everyone's bodies handles bc differently. its important to let your doc know what you've been experiencing with the brand of bc you have because he can adjust the dosage or switch you to another kind. its really one big game of playing around with it until you can find something that works best with your system. however it takes your body several months to get used to the pill so expect to have some troubles along the way. in 2-3 months of consecutive use you should be fully adapted to it. if you aren't then thats probably the time to switch to another kind or dose.

As you have doctor's appointment shortly, it's best to check it out authentically: after the doctor's opinion, if there is any clarification, then you could exchange notes with friends -- that's my recommendation! (at this stage)
