i m using my internet providers ip for two days. my firewall setting is on. file and printer sharing is off. can he see whom m i talking to on messenger?

Yes,

Two ways

Client - Server - Client setup.

In this setup the ISP can see the IP address of the server that takes your message and forwards it to the person your chatting with. However the IP address of the person your chatting with will not be seen by the ISP.

Client - Client setup.

In this setup when you send your message it is sent with the IP address of the person chatting with. So the ISP will see the person your chatting with. This works because there is no "middle man" acting like a proxy


You can use PGP or some other data encryption to encrypt the messages sent so that it can't be seen. However, the IP will still be seen even if that data is encrypted.
