Uhmm, the wireless router hooked up to your computer which works with her laptop should have come with the file "shared files" but beware of other internet stealers who can steal stuff you put on that file.

If you have a simple home network, either wired or wireless, you should not need any 3rd party software. What OS are you using on the Laptop and your PC?
We use XP at home, and it has file sharing capability. Do some searching within the XP Help, you'll find it. I've never had a problem using file sharing like this. Besides, why spend money when you don't have to?

If you have a router create a network using Windows. Look under MY Network places. You can also look on your control panel VIA Networking. Follow the steps. This allows your Shared Folders; music, videos, documents, etc to be visible to other computer on your home network. You can also share printers. Note if you are going to do that, make sure you have all the software installed on all the computers inorder for everything to work efficiently. Good Luck!

Set up a wireless network using the Window's wireless network wizard. Then right click on the files you want to share and click on properties, then click on the sharing tab and put a mark in the box to share the file, you can also put a mark in the box allow other users to modify my files if you want to be able to change anything whilst using the other computer.

If the network is set up properly you shouldn't need any program at all. Both computers should be able to communicate with each other and share everything. However, the network does have to be set up properly.

You don't need a separate program. Windows will allow you to share any and all files. Open MY COMPUTER, right click on the drive, and select PROPERTIES. Then click on the SHARING tab, and turn on sharing. Make sure you click on the SECURITY tab and, assuming you want everyone on your home network to have access, set FULL access to the user called 'EVERYONE'.
Anything you buy is a rip-off.

If you're both on the same network, just use explorer.
You'll need to share the folder(s) you have the files in first.
