I live in Gloucester and there is a strong possiblility that the water will be cut off because of the floods, I was wondering if I still go to work tomorrow if there is no water for drinking toilets etc?

Thanks

I'd go in anyway and take drinks with me and worry about the Bogs when I needed them. If the firm is flooded out i think it will be all hands to the pump. The question does arise in these circumstances is ; do you want the job or not?

i'm not sure but i think that they have a duty to provide basics like water. you have my sympathy buy the way, gloucester was hit very bad by the flooding, i have never known glos to be hit that bad ever, those poor poor people, i hope you werent hit too bad, I think you should try to go to work though if you can make it, your job is important.

health and safety law says employer must provide drinking water and toilet facilities. Go to work, as your employer may have got portable toilets and bottled water, and in any case, it must be the employer who tells you not to come into work, or they can dock your pay for it

Check with your boss to see if water is going to be provided by other source before you file a claim.

I have work at sites where they brought water in so we can work.

Sorry, but I think you will have to turn up and see what facilities have been laid on for you. It is not illegal at this stage, since your employer may provide bottled water and alternative sanitary arrangements. Good try though!

There are no clean running water or toilets down the mines but they seem to manage. Stop moaning and get on with it.

I would go to work, and until you are told that it's unsafe to work, or your employer says to go home until everything is cleared up. I worked in a nursing home, and our town was flooded, we had no electricity, and were told to not use water unless absolutely necessary. I had to go to work to take care of these people because they needed me.

It would not be illegal to go to work at all. It may be illegal for them to keep you there if there were no sanitary systems working. I would go to work and let them send you home-you may be able to get paid for the day or partial pay then

It would depend upon what emergency measures your employer has set up in this situation. If facilities are provided, then there is no reason to skip work.
