I am the first American born of a long line of blood from Belgium. I find that those family members in Belgium , as well as my parents that they tend to be hard working perfectionists. Ever been in an old dutch ladies home, immaculate. As far as their national character and pride, other than my grandfather, who was a staunch socialist, I have not seen much of this in other family members. Politics really was not an issue at the dinner table. Also, they are laid back. Look at the legal drug and sex laws in countries in the netherlands, legal yet controlled. Anything pretty much goes, and because of this there is very very little crime. They respect the boundaries of the law that is imposed on them
