These two border guards, Ramos and Campeon, were only doing their job well when they shot a Mexican drug smuggler. They were over-prosecuted by a George Bush appointee US Attorney. Now these brave men rot in federal prison while that scumball Scooter Libby gets a get out of jail free card. Ramos and Campeon should receive full pardons, be reinstated, and receive back pay for all the time they suffered wrongful prosecution. They should be reimbursed for attorney's fees too. George W. Bush is undoubtedly the worst President in the last 150 years. Yes, he is worse than Nixon and Harding. I'm proud to be a Democrat.

Shooting two unarmed men in the back is brave? I don't know where you're from, but I can tell you one thing that, that isn't bravery.

The President should definitely pardon the two border agents. I am amazed how many of the people who have written in do not know the facts of this case. In the first place, the smuggler was not shot in the back. The bullet, in fact, entered through the side of his buttocks. According to the doctor who removed the bullet, the smuggler was probably turned toward the agent who shot him (this would be true if he was trying to shoot at the agents)

They did not try to cover up the shooting because there were 9 other agents including two supervisors on the scene. They had been taught to clean their bullet casings after a shooting and that is what they were doing.

Third: The prosecution allowed the drug smuggler to lie at trial. He testified that he was only smuggling this one time to pay for medications and a new driver's license. At the time he testified, he had already been stopped for smuggling a second time. The prosecution objected to this information being presented to the jury and the crooked judge agreed with him. As far as I know, it is illegal for the prosecution to allow a witness to commit perjury, but that is exactly what this prosecutor did. Something about this case stinks to high heaven and I wonder how far up this corruption goes.

I probably would have done the same. I think they did their jobs. it is a shame that they are rotting in prison. what a government to work for. where the illegal criminals have more rights then us citizens doing their government jobs.
Bush, Chaney & Scooter, just another example of Bush's daddy's buddy system. Only looking out for each other's interest.
I do agree that Bush is by far & above the worst President this country has ever seen. Only 1 1/2 years left, hopefully we can hold out that long!!!

Just a thought....when John Kerry shot an unarmed teenager in the back he became a "war hero".

Amazing what having a label can do for actions in a conflict situation.

Of course they should be pardoned. If the government would listen to the will of the American People and build a border fence on both the southern and northern borders this sort of thing would never happen. Our border patrol would never be in a position that would require them to use force to protect themselves from invaders intent on either smuggling drugs or abusing our system. You are obviously too young to have lived through the Carter years or your list of worst presidents would have him 1st 2nd and 3rd.

What I take exception to is our government, under any administration, using phrases like War on Terror, or in this case, War on Drugs.

In a war, you kill your enemies, you don't arrest them, and it doesn't matter if you shoot them in the front or the back as long as you kill them. That's war. So, if these men are "soldiers" in Americas "War on Drugs", how can what they did be considered illegal? Of course, what they did WAS illegal (as Coragryph so eloquently pointed out) and they should be in prison, but the government is also to blame by using the word "war" as part of snappy catchphrases that play well with the public and the media.

They shot two unarmed men in the back instead of in the leg to stop them--they belong in jail. But you're right about one thing all of Bush's little friends and other white house people belong in jail--actually for all the wrong they have done they deserve the death penalty. And that includes Bush too.

The record is replete with law enforcement people abusing their sacred authority and committing ILLEGAL acts.

This poster makes the statement that these two "were only doing their jobs" .If this is true than it is now OK for law enforcement personel to kill anyone they want with minimum to below minimum justification.

The FACT IS that these two KILLERS were found QUILTY by the same legal system processes thousands of law breakers everyday throughout the country.

Like Bush using and abusing GOD and PATRIOTISM,defenders of these two convicted FELONS use PATRIOTISM to justify their claims that these two felons were just doing their duty in defending citizens.

So many and too many bloody atrocities/crimes etc have been comitted in the name of GOD ,PATRIOTISM and people like Bush et al have gotten away with pure murder.

US Attorney Johnny Sutton:

"The prosecution of Compean and Ramos was about our committment to the rule of law and about two former law enforcement officers who committed serious crimes. An honest reading of the facts of this case shows that Compean and Ramos deliberately shot an un-armed man in the back without justification, distroyed evidence to cover it up and lied about it.A jury heard the facts and voted to convict ."

People like this poster NEVER address the facts of this case but ONLY the emotional aspects to get these two felons released.

And the poster has the nerve to call these two killers who shot a person in the back : "BRAVE MEN" .What a sick joke.

This poster and others NEED to present FACTS that show these two did not shoot a person IN THE BACK;they did not try to cover up evidence and lied about having covered it up.

If such proof is available , I WILL BE AT THE HEAD OF THE DEMONSTRATION TO FREE THESE TWO .

That is the ONLY things that matter period. not this PATRIOTISM crap!!!

God forbid that a loved one of this poster is not SHOT IN THE BACK by a law enforcement person who not only tries to cover the killing up but lies about having done so.

No, they were not "only doing their job".

They were doing their job AND they were breaking the law in how they were doing it.

No, people should not be pardoned if they broke the law. At least not until they have served at least a good chunk of their sentence.

You many not like the laws, but THE LAW IS THE LAW. Especially for someone who claims to be a law enforcement officer. If you don't like the laws, change them. But don't just ignore them.

These two people broke the law. As determined by a jury of their peers. And they were sentenced based on the mandatory minimums imposed by a conservative legislature. Which is one of the problems with mandatory minimums.

But the bottom line is that they broke the law.
