why don't public schools teach that abraham lincoln freed the slaves and that he was republican? all congresses during his presidency were also republican. back in the civil rights movement days, the south was democrat controlled as well. the democrats did however promise to give blacks and minorities welfare, but only to keep them dependent on the government as quasi-slaves who would vote for government dependence whenever a bill is brought up in Congress. they still try to make them always feel like the victim with the help of fear mongering. I bet democrats hate seeing a rich black person driving a BMW, owning is own business, and being independent of government.

the Radical Republicans demanded an aggressive prosecution of the Civil War and the faster destruction of slavery and Confederate nationalism. The Democrats Now may fell a little guilty because they where the ones that wanted to continue Slavery, and since the schools are ran by liberals now, They like to avoid Lincoln and even try to skew the history of Lincoln. Radical Republicans were often critical of Lincoln, whom they felt was too slow in freeing slaves and supporting their equality. I think this might be revisionist history at work.

Most schools do teach that.
But remember that back in the mid-1800s, the Democrats were the conservatives, and the Republicans were the liberals.
That's why the political philosophies should not be confused with the political parties. They are not interchangeable.

When I was in school,of course that was in the stone age-we learned about all of the Presidents. If they are purposely leaving Lincoln out, I don't know why.

Like you say, Democrats hate seeing successful blacks like Barack Obama. Thats probably why they all vote republican.

At the time some said he was part black and part monkey and as always stupid Today 'they ' say he hated blacks and he was gay because ,at times , in slept with man , which was the custom at that time to keep warm
