Having participated in several "home businesses", I'd recommend avoiding anything you find on line. Instead, find what you like to do, or what you're good at doing and determine if that hobby or skill can be a service to others.

RIP_Washington is right. Scams are everywhere. There is no such thing as a fast buck, unless you are the originator of the get rich quick scheme. I recommend going to Entrepreneur.com (the website for Entrepreneur Magazine) and looking through their franchise section. There is a section there for home-based businesses. Plus Entrepreneur prints How-To books for about 60 different businesses you can start from home. They are a reputable company - you can pick up their magazine anywhere - and they only allow established businesses to advertise. You won't find get-rich-quick schemes there, but then again you don't want to either.
You can also look at Prosper. They allow you to invest as little as $50 on unsecured debt and earn a decentreturn up to 30%. I have invested about $700 so far and I am earning 16%.

It depends on your skills as with any job. Accounting and bookkeeping can be done from home and freelance writing. Web design, programming, tech support, daycare, building things to sell, running a Christmas tree farm, growing almost anything, cattle ranch.
Or if you can go places you can run almost any business from landscape and architecture to home remodeling out of your home.
I think you need to look at your skills and the reason you are required to be at home. If you are home because you have small children at home you are limited because you might need to take care of them during the workday. You would need to have a caregiver come in or send them to daycare to work from home doing most jobs since you can't have a child in the background if you are on business phone calls or take a break every few minutes to get glasses of water and change diapers.

If a company requires initial payment from you in order to work for them, they are not legitimate.
DO NOT take any offers or click any links from people that post on yahoo! answers... they are ALL SCAMS.

ebay... buy wholesale and sell retail..
PS: dont google up "how to make money from home" cuz they are all scams. Especially those paid surveys, they will take advantage of your email address and you will just be adding to your spam list.
