"The Mummy or Ramses the Damned" by Anne Rice. I have always been fascinated by Egyptian history and art, so of course, I loved this book. I also loved Rice's vampire books--even tho she has a tendancy to get bogged down in details. Rice made the mummy a sexy guy, and one woudn't ordinarily expect that from someone who had been dead for thousands of years. Try it, you'll like it--especially the part about Ramses romance with Cleopatra. I know--you "must be" saying they didn't live at the same time. Not a problem in this book.
